Permission to Operate
PTO application and approval process.
Meter Swap
Once we receive our Green Tag, we submit that documentation to the utility company where we get put into a queue for their review again. They will verify that we've received City Clearance then do a meter swap. They go out to the house and change the utility meter to a bi directional meter for solar customers.
The difference between a bidirectional meter and a traditional meter is that the bidirectional meter has three different readings: (1) delivered, (2) received, and (3) net; whereas the traditional meter only has one reading: (1) delivered. DL (Delivered) is the power flow going into the home.
Once the meter swap is completed, the utility will notify us and the HO's that we've received Permission to Operate!
Once we have PTO, we ask our homeowners to call in when they are home and the sun is out so we can walk them through activation.
PTO
When the HO calls in, we will walk them through activation. BUT FIRST
We need to be checking the design and/or install photos to see how many inverters and disconnects they have, and also whether it is a SolarEdge, Enphase, or Tesla system. This will change the activations steps so it's necessary to know before hand. We should also find out if they are home and if the sun is out so we can be sure the system fires up properly. We can also send the HO's the activation steps if they aren't available the first time we reach out or if they would just like to do it on their own.
At this point, we will also be requesting a 5 star review from any customer who has not left one yet! And if they did leave one, potentially a second one on a separate platform.
Once the system has been turned on, the CRM needs to be updated accordingly!
Project Status will be updated to "System Turned On"

The Following Step will be updated to No Further Action Required

And the Commissioning Date will be populated!

CRM Updates are SO important, as they trigger tasks for other team members & departments in order to keep jobs progressing!
